Letting Agents in Hackney London E8
Area Comments
Hugely multicultural, great for access, and with a council devoted to making the most of its borough, Hackney is funky, urban but also a relaxed and happy place to be.
One of the most diverse places in London, Hackney is now extremely desirable as people realise the extent of its charms. Often written off as urban, it is actually one of the most greened-up areas of the capital, sitting next to the spectacular London Fields as well as Hackney Downs. These are extensive, glorious walking and cycling areas, and some of the most genuinely beautiful views in London are across the marshes here.
Hackney has always been very multicultural, and now its previous downbeat bohemian charms are fusing with much more upscale and aspirational worldviews. The huge range of bars, clubs and restaurants provide evenings out and days chatting for. Ocean music venue and the Hackney Empire are destination points. But though it's becoming more and more fashionable, Hackney still hasn't lost its edge - it feels still like a genuine inner London area, even as its venues and nightspots, its cafes and eateries, become more upmarket. It's great for access to places like Brick Lane, Dalston (for the Ridley Road Market and the cinema), as well as having its own farmer's market at Broadway Market.
These days Hackney is still spearheading the East London revolution in property, as government and investors developing the area. There are still the tower blocks here, but these are surrounded by street after streets of wonderful Victorian houses. There are lovely Georgian and Victorian mansions in areas like Victoria Park. Many of the local houses have of course been converted into (smart and desirable) flats, but there are plenty of houses around as well.
Hackney is still up and coming, as it develops out of its former slightly deprived status. There is still room to grow, but it is becoming a destination of choice for London's middle class, for professionals and the upwardly mobile couple. Its housing, and its amenities, have grown as its already diverse population has increased.
