East London line revamp to have "profound effect"
An extended and revamped East London Line is set to have a dramatic effect on the economic prosperity of Hackney, according to experts.
Last week, four new stations in the area at Shoreditch High Street, Haggerston, Hoxton and Dalston Junction were opened in the borough and local regeneration leaders have highlighted the potential for those looking to commute into the city.
A "preview" service is currently in operation to New Cross. The completed East London network will link Dalston with West Croydon station and for business in the former, regeneration plans are set to benefit from improved transport links, Regeneration and Renewal reports.
Guy Nicholson, a council member for regeneration and the 2012 Olympics, said it will have a "profound effect" both on the jobs market and future planning of town centres.
Hackney Council's plan for a sustainable community includes the ELL revamp and future benefits from the 2012 Olympic Games sites at Stratford.
The completion of the East London line and predictions of an improvement in the jobs market in those areas may encourage more people to consider looking for property to rent in the London borough of Hackney, as a result.
