In the heart of Newham, and thus in the heart of the redevelopment catapulting East London into the big leagues of investment, Manor Park is a thriving, diverse community with great bargains still to be had in the streets around it.
Known as an area of steadfast urban London tradition, Manor Park is actually a green and fairly open area (like much of East London generally). It's also mixed, accepting and friendly, with a huge variety of people and cultures.
Wanstead Park is right nearby and it's generally rural in feel much of the time - certainly for somewhere you can easily commute to Canary Wharf from. Despite this it's known as a lively place, with great local shops and places to eat. Shopping more widely however is advised for a greater range - but more widely can be in Ilford or Stratford, both close and offering excellent choice.
Whilst the area is still developing the investment and influx of demanding buyers from areas such as Bow or Bethnal Green, or Hackney, has meant that the lower end of the properties are being redeveloped quickly.
Straight roads, nicely lined with trees are the typical Manor Park housing areas. These are lined with Victorian terraced houses, with a good mix of flats and converted houses thrown into the mix. The Aldersbrook area has been made into a conservation area, bordering Wanstead Park, and its mix of houses are some of the best in the locality.
