Famously the haunt of the Birds of a Feather, Chigwell is chic, football-star Essex. The end of the Central Line might be a bit of a journey away but the homes found here are well worth it.
Just in the shadow of the M11, Chigwell is an oasis of rural calm only a short distance from the city. On the edge of Epping and Hainault Forests, Chigwell is a charming village set in an area of leisurely walks, rambling little roads and country pubs.
It's also an area of large houses, some lavishly so - but the huge properties that Chigwell is famous for are only the topmost layer of a much more varied property portfolio. The larger properties are most notably found off Manor Road and Chigwell High Road, and range from exceptional properties in spacious grounds to ample, but much more affordable semi and detached properties, many in the mock-Georgian coach house style. There are also plenty of apartments, many from conversions, to be had for the individual or couple who don't feel like rattling around one of the neighbourhood's much larger properties quite yet.
A wealthy area, Chigwell provides access to good shops and larger chains, as well as excellent health clubs. The countryside around is a mixture of landscaped, controlled 'picturesque' rurality and wilder forests. A great mix of scenery, of shopping, and of housing, and the combination of quiet privacy and ease of access to London help to keep Chigwell's very desirable properties at their current level.
