Hammersmith and Fulham Council start Park consultation
Hammersmith and Fulham Council have launched a new consultation on Hammersmith Park, inviting local residents to have their say on the area and how it can be improved.
Plans are being made to develop an all-weather sports facility to replace a previous football pitch. Planning permission has been approved, but the council is now putting the project on hold as they address the worries of locals.
As part of the consultation process, a public meeting took place in White City Community Centre on May 14th, before a drop-in session was organised at the same venue on May 19th.
Following this, there will be a second drop-in session on May 21st, taking place between 6:30 and 8pm, ahead of a final meeting at the community centre on June 3rd.
Councillor Wesley Harcourt, H&F Council’s cabinet member for environment, transport and residents’ services. said: “Hammersmith Park is a highly valued green space and we want to ensure those people who live nearby and use it have a say in its future.”
As part of the new proposals, the current all-weather pitch, bowling green and tennis courts would be replaced by ten five-a-side pitches, two tennis courts and a multi-games area. There would also be a pavilion, cafe, bar and a car park.
More than 40 people took part in the first drop-in meeting, including individuals from local residents’ associations and community clubs.
Some of the key issues discussed at the meeting were the presence of a bar, the price for using facilities and the space available for the car park.
Local residents have been advised to visit the council website for more information on the plans, while there is also a survey online for them to give their feedback to the project and improve the facilities available at the park.
