Just down from Notting Hill Gate, benefiting from all its facilities but with a genteel and relaxed, ultra-upscale air, Holland Park boasts some of the finest houses in London.
Between Holland Park proper and Kensington Gardens, Holland Park provides excellent access to the west, and it's easy to get into town from the tube. But why would you want to go anywhere? Living here means you have two of the finest and most developed areas of greenery in town on your doorstep (but be aware - having them literally on your doorstep will mean a big price hike); the eateries of Holland Park (and nearby Notting Hill Gate) are wonderfully varied and many of the best in town are here. There are plenty of nightclubs for the very upmarket crowd who tend to live here to let their hair down, and truly wonderful cocktail bars. Shopping is excellent in Kensington (just over Camden Hill) of course, and in Notting Hill.
Living here, you have to have very deep pockets, but if you do, then Holland Park is one of the most rewarding areas in town. It has real community (and many comparable areas do not), a social feeling, perhaps the influence of the still-very-cool Notting Hill. There are amazing properties on every street here. Huge mansion blocks with epic flats in them, all beautifully fitted out; Slim, beautiful Victorian terraces of several storeys; absolutely breathtaking conversions. Whatever you want - flat, house, maisonette - you can get here, and it will be stunning. But you must expect to pay for it.
