Create11 summer festival to return to Hackney
People living in property to rent in the London borough of Hackney are to enjoy a series of events later this month when the Create11 summer festival returns to the area.
This month-long festival will begin on June 24th and run until July 25th, featuring over 150 events covering music, design, art, food and film.
Councillor Guy Nicholson, Hackney Council cabinet member for regeneration and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, said: "Through Create we can showcase the extraordinary concentration of creativity that is found in East London and bring about the largest participatory arts led festival in the UK."
This year, one of the events will be called Folly for a Flyover, which involves a group of local artists taking over a disused motorway under-croft beneath the A12 in Hackney Wick.
Here they will put on workshops, performances and film screenings from the start to the end of the festival.
Earlier this month, Hackney Council announced that local volunteers had helped the area's Clapton Square to become a wildlife haven.
