East London, Thames Gateway 'property hotspots'
Overly pessimistic forecasts of the UK property market are masking some of London's prime hotspots, one leading property investment firm has said.
Jones Lang Lasalle insisted that the 2012 Olympics and the forthcoming Thames Gateway urban regeneration project are both creating huge opportunities for investors in the capital.
Issuing its latest property forecast, the investment firm argued that many pundits are underestimating the impact of both development projects on the region over the next 15 years.
Commenting on the "massive development" slated for London property in the coming years, Jones Lang Lasalle head Andrew Gould said the beneficial impact on local economies would be "enormous".
He told building.co.uk: "The opportunities for occupiers and investors are now very real and we would not have concluded that even two or three years ago."
Halifax recently predicted that east London borough of Hackney will become one of the capital's strongest performing areas, benefiting from its proximity to the Olympics as well as its proposed Crossrail link.
