New developments to put the sparkle into Camden
Camden is a quaint little borough which forms part of inner London.
It has a unique identity and artistic feel to it which has yet to be replicated across other areas in the city.
It is also home to the famous market which is named after the borough. The market has a number of different stalls, representing almost every cultural tradition you can think of.
Properties in the area are as varied and diverse as they come. Here you can rent anything including detached houses, terraces, penthouses and semi-detached.
You can purchase anything and everything here and prices start from £208 per week for a one bed apartment.
However, with some properties costing upwards of £2,000 a week to rent and over a million to buy, then affordability could have been an issue for some people.
To address this, a new Intermediate Rent scheme has been launched to offer residents the opportunity to rent a property at less than the market value.
The amount charged is lower than what one would expect to pay for a similar home in a similar area than if one were to rent privately.
There are a number of different rented developments across the capital, with many widely available to the public.
Moves have been made to improve the quality of housing in the borough as well.
Plans to regenerate the Agar Grove estate and create new more spacious and energy efficient homes for residents were recently given the green light.
The scheme is set to deliver 13 new homes, including refurbishing and remodelling Lulworth, the existing tower block.
It will replace 249 existing homes which are in need of significant investment.
Commenting on the scheme, councillor Valerie Leach, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth, said: "Despite a £200 million cut in government funding, we are still able to deliver significant investment and improvements in schools, homes, community facilities, and employment opportunities in the borough through our innovative Community Investment Programme."
