House price data may persuade more to rent flats in London
People may now be considering looking for property to rent in the London borough of Camden, after new figures revealed the cost of purchasing a home has increased over the past 12 months.
The latest House Price Index from LSL Property Services and Acadmetrics revealed that house prices in June fell by 0.5 per cent on May levels; however, annual valuations are 7.7 per cent higher than at the same point last year.
David Brown, commercial director of LSL, noted that the demographic age profile suggests that as many as one million first-time buyers are delaying decisions on acquiring an abode as a result of market conditions.
Another point that might put people off purchasing a home and persuade them to consider flats to rent in London is the comments of Ray Boulger, senior technical director at home loan broker John Charcol, this week.
He said that conditions for first-time buyers looking to get on to the property ladder are unlikely to improve in the near future.
