Redbridge residents urged to book green garden waste collections
People living in property to rent in Redbridge are being urged to book their green garden waste collections.
During the winter months, local residents need to book a free pickup with the local council.
Scheduled collections finish on October 28th, making it important to book appointments thereafter by calling the Customer Contact Centre on 020 8554 5000 or visiting the Redbridge Council website.
According to the local authority, more than 700 tonnes of extra green garden waste has been collected thanks to residents.
This summer, the council has composted over 5,600 tonnes of green garden waste and saved £170,000 in the year as a whole, an improvement of £21,000 on last year.
All of the garden waste collected is made into compost, which is more environmentally friendly than sending it to landfill and saves money.
Earlier this year, Redbridge Council was awarded £385,500 to help promote cycling in the borough, which is now being used to provide residents with the skills and facilities required to cycle safely.
