Flats to rent in Redbridge to get greener environment
Those looking for property to rent in the London borough of Redbridge may enjoy a much leafier environment after plans were announced for a major tree-planting programme there.
London mayor Boris Johnson joined other volunteers in a mass-planting exercise aimed at adding 10,000 new trees to Roding Valley Park in the borough, which will create an urban forest.
Organised by Trees for Cities and Redbridge Council, it is part of a project to add 20,000 more trees to London.
The planting at Roding Valley has been taking place over this week (January 10th to 16th), with Mr Johnson commenting: "Trees immeasurably improve our quality of life and I am determined to boost their numbers."
People moving to Redbridge who have children may appreciate having the park and woodland to enjoy and could also be encouraged by news of the high marks achieved by primary schools in the borough.
The council noted last month that 85 per cent of pupils achieved level 4 in English at key stage 2, while 84 per cent reached that level in maths.
Both of these figures were five per cent above the English schools average.
