Paddington: An area on the up
The district of Paddington is located within the borough of Westminster and offers plenty of sites for people to enjoy.
It is perhaps best known for three landmarks: Paddington Station, St Mary's Hospital and Paddington Green Police Station.
Since 1988, a special policy known as Paddington Waterside has been in operation. It aims to regenerate several large sites within the area and it represents the largest development currently taking place in the borough.
A transport hub
As already mentioned, the area is home to Paddington Station. From here, individuals are able to access commuter services to the west of England, which includes locations such as Slough, Reading and Swindon.
People can also get to Oxford, Bath, Exeter and Cornwall from the location, which highlights how handy it is for those looking to get away for the weekend.
The station was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and has a statue to commemorate him, alongside one of Paddington Bear.
Paddington Waterside
Described by the partnership in charge of running it as "one of London's most important opportunity areas", Paddington Waterside is seeking to create a lasting regeneration legacy.
Through the Paddington Business Investment District, it is trying to bring about a more attractive, safer and greener area.
Paddington Green
Seeking to bring about radical change in the area, it will see homes improved, while new properties are also going to be built. This will include the development of better parks and children's play areas, while more shops are going to be constructed.
It means all those who rent property in Paddington will have access to quality schools, healthcare and other services.
Schooling
Parents will be keen to live in an area that offers good provisions in terms of education. Paddington definitely offers a wide range of learning centres, including independent schools such as David Game College and Lansdowne Independent College.
There are also a number of state schools as well, such as City of Westminster College, Edward Wilson Primary School and Paddington Primary School. In total, there are 150 options within a ten-mile radius.
Blowing off some steam
Ultimately, individuals will be keen to enjoy themselves, regardless of where they live. Paddington is only a five-minute walk from Hyde Park.
One of the finest landscapes in London, it covers 350 acres and offers people the chance to go for walks, bicycle rides and runs around the grounds. A number of events will also be held during the Olympic Games, which get underway on July 27th.
Marble Arch is a ten-minute walk and the popular monument is a site most people will be keen to see up close and personal.
Westminster City Council is putting on a series of events for young people and adults at Paddington Library. Kids will get the chance to play some games consoles, do their homework and take part in family workshops. Individuals can take a number of courses designed to improve their abilities, such as ICT.
