Keskidee Centre to celebrate 40th anniversary
An arts and cultural centre for the black community living in flats to rent in the London borough of Islington and other property in the area is to celebrate its 40th anniversary soon.
A plaque to mark the anniversary of the Keskidee Centre will be unveiled on Thursday April 7th.
The centre was founded in 1971 near to King's Cross by Oscar Abrams and his fellow trustees.
Bob Marley's video for Is This Love, which starred a seven-year-old Naomi Campbell, was filmed at the centre back in 1978.
Councillor Catherine West, leader of Islington Council, said: "Islington Council's green plaque will be a permanent reminder of the impact that the Keskidee made and is a wonderful way to celebrate its 40th anniversary."
Earlier this month, another community facility opened in Islington - the West Library.
The 100-year-old library reopened having been given a major makeover, which included the addition of more computers for public use.
