Holborn: Homes in Holborn
If you're looking to live in the middle of our great British capital, you can't get much close to Central London than Holborn. A vibrant, fashionable, fast-moving and culture-rich district, the area borders on Covent Garden, so living here means you won't be left wanting for nightlife and shopping.
Housing
Often considered a sprawling mass of offices, restaurants and shops, it might be hard to believe that people actually live here if you take a casual stroll down Theobalds Road. You might think choice is restricted to confined apartments above shops but there's actually a surprising amount of choice in Holborn. While space is never going to be a luxury, you won't be left struggling to breathe.
A casual search for properties to rent throws up apartments and flats of up to five bedrooms, a handful of terraced houses and even a number of maisonettes. Flat rental prices stand at around £588 per week on average which is far from the most expensive price in London, but you're not likely to get as much space for your money as you would in the suburbs.
Local services
Everything you could ever need in the way of local services is located within walking distance of Holborn, including some that you might never imagine using. These vary from the standard selection of launderettes, supermarkets and gyms, to the specialist professionals that might not be considered 'day-to-day'. Photography studios, bridal shops and bike retailers to name but a few, but the point is, you'll never need to travel far from your front doorstep to get what you need, no matter how obscure it might be.
Transportation
With a centre-of-London location, you're not likely to be get a better offer where transportation is concerned. For those who work in one of the capital's many major office blocks, you'll only have to tolerate a short walk or a Tube journey in the mornings and evenings.
People who need regular access to the suburbs and areas surrounding the city are also likely to be highly satisfied as Holborn is within easy access of every single major London train station. London St Pancras and Kings Cross to the north will get you as far as Scotland while Charing Cross and London Victoria serve the southern counties and coastal towns.
Finally, access to the capital's major airports is also a breeze for those who consider international travel to be essential. Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and City can all be reached feasibly within an hour of travel.
Eating and drinking
You won't be tempted to venture too far from Holborn when it comes to eating and drinking as the area is home to a plethora of restaurants, bars, clubs and eateries to suit all tastes.
Italian fanatics would be particularly well-advised to check out Cafe Mode on Endell Street, a stone's throw away from Covent Garden. Adventurous souls might want to try Asadal, a restaurant that combines authentic Korean cuisine with a barbeque focus. Pub-wise, traditionalists will no doubt adore the Princess Louise while Pearl Bar is as trendy as they come for those seeking a modern place to drink.
All things considered, there's no better location if you're seeking a central residence.
