Acton Council approves housing estate plans
Plans to regenerate the Acton Gardens housing estate and create some 2,500 new homes have been given the go ahead by the local council.
Countryside Properties and social housing landlord London & Quadrant are hoping to create a green neighbourhood with parks and communal gardens, as well as office and retail space.
Ealing Council has approved the masterplan for the site, as well as granting detailed consent for 106 homes that will be the first to be constructed during the second phase of the scheme.
This will include 60 for sale as well as 31 for social rent and 15 for shared ownership.
Phase one is now underway, with the first of 167 properties due to be completed in January. These will be a mixture of one, two and three bedroom homes, most featuring a balcony or winter garden.
David Montague, chief executive of London & Quadrant, said: "Securing planning committee approval is a crucial milestone in the transformation of South Acton and we are extremely pleased to have been given the green light by our partners at the London borough of Ealing."
Acton Gardens is a 15-year regeneration project and half of the homes being built on the site will be affordable properties. Of these, three quarters will be available to rent, while a quarter will be offered on a shared ownership basis.
The estate is located in the W3 postcode area close to Acton Town Underground station and South Action Overground station. It is around ten minutes from Acton High Street on foot.
Once the homes are complete, property to rent in Acton could become even more attractive for single individuals, couples and families, as the area boasts some excellent transport links into Central London, as well as a host of local amenities.
It is also well located for easy access to Heathrow Airport and major traffic routes out of London.
