Tottenham residents consulted over regeneration plans
Tottenham is set to get a facelift after new regeneration plans were announced by the council.
Both residents and businesses have been consulted over plans to improve housing and employment opportunities in the area.
The proposals were set out in the Tottenham Strategic Regeneration Framework (SRF), which detailed how the plans will be delivered. This new "community-inspired" plan has outlined a vision for the locality, which will be implemented over the next 20 years.
A launch event was recently held to enable residents and traders to find out more and get involved with helping to put in place the proposals set out in the document.
The event was held at Tottenham Town Hall and featured representatives from the community, businesses and the council.
In addition, there was also an exhibition which outlined some of the key projects already under way. A film created by teenage directors was also shown, which looked at the aspirations of Tottenham’s young people.
Commenting on the developments, councillor Alan Strickland, cabinet member for regeneration and housing, said: "The launch event is our chance to say thank you to the thousands of local people who shared their ideas for Tottenham’s future. It’s also an opportunity for local people to get involved with driving improvements forward.
"Through the workshops, film screening, market and exhibitions, Wednesday’s launch will showcase the best of what Tottenham has to offer and be a chance for the entire community to share in its future."
Tottenham residents will also be given the opportunity to participate in a series of local workshops that will focus on each of the priorities set out in the 20 year plan.
Over 3,700 people have already given their feedback on the initative, during the five-month Tottenham’s Future consultation, which ended in February this year.
Most people listed housing, better access to public transport, improvement to education and job creation as being among their most important priorities.
