Summer on the Green launches in Tottenham
Individuals in the Tottenham area of Haringey can enjoy the Summer on the Green festival.
The event runs from June 23rd to July 22nd and gives residents a chance to sample the green spaces found in the area. Stalls, a cafe, an events area and performance space are among the attractions people can look forward to experiencing.
Anyone checking out flats to rent in Tottenham may be interested in the event, which forms part of Haringey Council's 12 in 12 pledge - an initiative that sees it deliver regeneration and activity to Tottenham throughout 2012.
A number of special events are to be put on during the month-long celebration, including a community theatre and cinema, barbecues and a farmers and craft market. Everyone in the local community is advised to take part, or just show up and enjoy themselves.
The local authority has linked up with the North West London Society of Architects in order to bring the plans to fruition and they coincide with the Creative Summer 2012, Tottenham Carnival and the London Festival of Architecture.
Every Wednesday while the event is taking place people will be given the chance to get out and about. This is because special walks have been organised to show off local streets and public spaces.
Earlier this month, it was announced additional money has been secured for the One Borough One Future fund. Some £300,000 has been released from the council's IT budget and it means more projects can be supported before the application date closes on July 13th.
Councillor Joe Goldberg, cabinet member for finance and sustainability, noted the supplementary income will give the public the opportunity to showcase their talent in order to make the area a nicer place to live.
"One Borough One Future has the potential to change the way we work for the better, deliver savings and make Haringey a more equal place for everyone. The response so far has been fantastic and we look forward to bringing to life some of the very best ideas for a better society," he added.
