New Tottenham Hotspur stadium plans approved
People seeking flats to rent in Tottenham could see the area receive an extensive revamp after Haringey Council agreed to new stadium-led development plans.
Tottenham Hotspur's proposals to create a 56,000-capacity Premier League stadium is at the heart of the new £400 million transformation scheme in the north of the area, which will also involve the creation of more than 280 new homes.
Other additions that will be made to the district include a refurbished heritage square, improved roads and public transport networks, and expanded public spaces.
The proposals have been unanimously backed by the council's planning committee, due to the authority's belief that a new football stadium could kick-start wider improvements across Tottenham.
Alan Strickland, cabinet member for economic development, said: "We will continue to work in partnership with Spurs, with local businesses and with the community to make sure that this fantastic scheme can be delivered."
Tottenham has already received extensive financial support from the council to support local businesses and improve the area following the civil unrest affecting the region last year.
