London house prices up 15.7% since 2007
House prices across London have soared by 15.7 per cent over the course of the last five years, new research has shown.
The latest England and Wales House Price Index from LSL Property Services has revealed that the cost of a typical home in the capital city had jumped to £398,844 as of April of this year, compared to the level of £344,664 recorded in the same month in 2007.
This hike of 15.7 per cent is well in excess of the 0.3 per cent rise seen across England and Wales as a whole during this same timeframe, while the only other region in the countries to display price growth in this five-year stint was the south-east with a price climb of 1.7 per cent.
London's overall rise was driven primarily by the borough of Kensington & Chelsea, where a typical house has gone up in value by 42.3 per cent to £962,086 since April 2007.
