London boroughs form new parking service
Residents in the London boroughs of Ealing, Brent and Hounslow will be able to take advantage of a new and unique parking service across West London after local authorities announced the development of the initiative.
The service will enable all three districts to introduce a state-of-the-art system that will completely revolutionise the way people pay for their parking, with a series of jaw-dropping innovations designed to make life easier for motorists.
Instead of placing a paper permit on their windscreen, people will instead be encouraged to pay and register their parking permission online, with a brand new virtual service in place that is sure to please both residents and visitors to the boroughs.
The introduction of the system, dubbed the West London parking service, will result in substantial savings while at the same time radically improving the process motorists use to pay for parking.
Representatives from all three local authorities were keen to comment on the new agreement, with some predicting the five-year contract will soon become the standard throughout London as more councils get wind of the benefits.
Councillor Ed Mayne, Hounslow Council’s cabinet member for community safety and regulatory services, said: "[The service] shows the way ahead for other councils who are faced with a perfect storm of cuts and rising costs."
New IT solutions and more efficient working practices will be provided by Serco, an international services company, with the contract subject to a standstill period until April 2nd.
Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for transport and environment at Ealing Council, commented: "This new contract is an excellent example of how West London boroughs are coming together to ensure we can make the savings that are needed whilst at the same time making real, palpable improvements in service."
Elaine Bailey, managing director of Serco Home Affairs, added that the company is looking forward to providing the exciting new service to residents and visitors in West London.
