Landlords 'need to remember routine maintenance'
People may have chosen property to rent in Kensington as a cheaper alternative to buying a flat or house as property prices in the borough are typically high.
However, if tenants feel that there is maintenance work that needs to be carried out on the apartment of house, they may wish to get in contact with their landlord to carry it out.
A recent report by HomeServe revealed that each year landlords and homeowners find themselves spending over £400 million on repairing damage caused by leaking water pipes.
Furthermore, it is estimated that in the last five years 1.67 million people have seen leaks from their flats cause damage to neighbouring properties, or vice versa.
William Davies, managing director at Aspect Maintenance, advised that holding off from carrying out routine maintenance could result in long-term damage which may be permanent and leave consumers needing to pay for new parts.
"A long-term leak can take months or even years to show itself and, by then, it is likely to have done significant damage," he added.
