Flats to rent in Ealing 'may benefit from recycling schemes'
flats to rent in the London borough of Ealing could become attractive places to live as the council has just approved a new recycling incentive.
The 23 wards within the borough will compete against each other to show how keen they are on helping the environment.
A total of £20,000 will be given to the community that gets the most households recycling.
Similarly, the three wards that show the greatest improvement in the area will also receive the same amount each, meaning everyone living in the vicinity will benefit from the effort made.
This is the first scheme of its kind in London and it is hoped it will reduce the amount of money spent on sending waste to landfill sites.
Cabinet member for transport and environment councillor Bassam Mahfouz said: "We want our communities to work with us to help reduce these costs, so it's only right to reward our residents for helping us to do this."
In other community news, Ealing Council is encouraging young athletes to apply for a grant that could see them reach their sporting potential.
