St Mary's Church in Potters Bar receives new funding
People occupying flats to rent in Potters Bar have seen improvements to the town's St Mary's Church community venue, courtesy of local councillors.
Eight area representatives from Hertsmere Council have dedicated funds from their Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme allocations to purchase a new sound system for the church and a portable system for the hall.
Council funding was used to cover £3,953 of the total £5,748 outlay, with councillors such as Peter Knell, Martin Worster, Robert Calcutt, Tugay Sevincli and the late Ron Morris all contributing.
The funding will help to make St Mary's Church a more popular location in which to hold social and community events.
Reverend Peter Bevan said: "This generous support from local councillors is hugely appreciated and a great morale boost."
This comes in the same week that Hertsmere Council also announced that North Bushey Baptist Church has been able to install a portable personal announcement and karaoke system using local authority funding.
