Hertsmere community groups receive funding injections
People in flats to rent in Hertsmere will see benefits to their communities following a new commitment of funding for local groups.
Hertsmere Council has announced the recipients of the latest round of funds from its community grants scheme, which has been providing much-needed money to community groups and charities throughout the year.
For example, Phoenix Residents' Association in Bushey has been allocated £500 to purchase a PA system and computer to stage quiz events and karaoke nights, while Potters Bar Gymnastics Club has received £2,000 to buy safety matting.
Other recipients include Shenley Village Cricket Club, which needs new equipment, as well as Youth FM Radio, which will be using the money to set up a radio project for Borehamwood young people.
Brenda Batten, portfolio holder for leisure, culture and health, said: "Local voluntary groups play a vital role in our communities and I hope this money will help them continue the great work that they do."
This week the council also announced that many locations in Hertsmere will be offering free parking over the Christmas period, which will help to promote business in the region.
