Crystal Palace Park to get action plan
Crystal Palace Park is set to benefit from an action plan designed to improve the green space.
It comes after the Crystal Palace Management Board Action Plan had its first meeting back in February as it sought to identify funding streams. A number of infrastructural projects are believed to be under consideration and the developments may interest anyone looking at flats to rent in Crystal Palace.
Councillor Stephen Carr, leader of Bromley Council and chairman of the executive project board, observed that enhancing the location is a "significant and long-term objective". He added: "We are looking to generate significant investment to fund long-term improvement projects whilst continuing to carry out smaller improvement projects and day-to-day maintenance."
Mr Carr went on to note any volunteers who want to get involved in the scheme are more than welcome to. Among the projects that have recently been completed is the cleaning of Paxton's Head, a statue that commemorates the designer of Crystal Palace Joseph Paxton. On top of this, repairs have been carried out on the visitor centre. Any projects undertaken will have to adhere to Crystal Palace Park's heritage and infrastructure.
Other positive news in the borough is the announcement of public realm improvements for Bromley North. Some £5 million in funding - some of which has come from Transport for London - is designed to revitalise the area.
Councillor Peter Morgan, executive councillor for renewal and recreation, observed more people will be encouraged to shop in the location once the work has been completed. "We have listened very carefully to all the comments we received and have improved the plans as a result," he added.
Market Square, High Street North and East Street areas of Bromley town centre are the parts of the borough set to be affected by the plans, as more pedestrian-friendly areas are being created.
