Letting Agents in Sydenham London SE26
Area Comments
Loomed over by the Crystal Palace mast, Sydenham is high, happy and friendly, and (pardon the pun) on the rise. It's a great place for families, a good commuter location and both urban enough to feel like you're really in London, whilst being open and suburban in all the areas that count.
Excellent roads lead off Sydenham's main drag, down the hill and along the ridge. These are lined with some lovely Victorian properties of various sizes, some extremely large and many subdivided into nevertheless impressive flats - though as families become more and more the target market, many of these are being shifted back to provide substantial family homes with excellent gardens; the Westwood Hill area contains truly magnificent houses. There are good roads leading down the hill, also lined with Victorian houses, but with more in the way of later housing, with some 1930s and midwar properties here, as well as lovely Edwardian houses on the Thorpe Estate. There are also ex-council properties that sometimes surface, as well as some good new blocks.
Sydenham is airy, the views over London and to the south spectacular day or night. The area is becoming gentrified, with superb restaurants here and over in Crystal Palace, excellent local pubs (the Woodsman, Dolphin and Golden Lion are favourites) and cafes such as the Blue Mountain and Sugahill are great for lunches or just to hang out. There are good local clothes and book stores,
Great places to walk are commonplace here, Crystal Palace Park is a step away, and Mayow Park and Betts Park are near. With this and quick access to town, as well as Dulwich, Forest Hill (where the wonderful Horniman Museum sits), and prices still competitive, Sydenham is a great place to view homes of all kinds.
