A huge mixture of property alternatives exist in New Malden, a fairly affluent suburb which borders with Kingston and Merton - but is a well established centre in its own right.
New Malden is affluent (the very wealth Coombe Hill lies at its northern end), but not showy, and renowned as comfortable place to live blessed with a load of amenities. It's well placed for greenery, within walking distance of Wimbledon Common, Bushy Park, as well as Richmond Park. This brings with it a great local background of sports and recreation, and New Malden is known for its fitness centres (including the Malden Centre) and sports clubs - and Fulham FC train here in Motspur Park. There's also an excellent local theatre.
The area is very proud of its community - there are a lot of annual events, and the locals take great pride in their civic ceremonies such as lining the High Street wit Christmas lights. Local restaurants are varied but there is a good number of Korean restaurants of a high standard, testament to the large Korean population here.
A thriving local community is justly proud of its property. There are good standards of housing across the board, varying from the large numbers of Victorian and Edwardian terraces that spiral out from the high street and centre. There are some excellent Victorian villas which are often found subdivided into flats, along the Kingston Road. The often-seen mid-war semis of South London are prevalent in the south of the area.
A huge amount of property then for a relatively small area. New Malden's excellent local resources and amenities, and its wide spread of property, make it a good bet for anyone from families to professionals looking in the area.
