Area Comments
Despite its growing association with London and its definite status as an up and coming suburb, Ewell is a village first and foremost. It's also one of the best places to live in Britain.
On the borders with Surrey, Ewell is nearly as far as you can get and still be a true suburb of the capital. Its character perfectly fuses suburb and rural. Ewell is extremely historical, having been settled probably since the Bronze Age. More recently, it is of course the site of Henry VIII's Nonsuch Palace, and this remains its most significant landmark.
For many years Ewell has been widely considered one of - if not the best and most desirable - places to live in the UK, let alone London. This is because of its fusion of fantastic local schools, virtually nonexistent crime, and the fact that it sits in the middle of some of the most attractive countryside around, with woodlands, parks and rivers galore. There are excellent pubs in the centre of the village and good restaurants nearby catering to most tastes. For nightlife, it's a quick trip to Kingston or into deeper parts of Surrey or Hampshire.
The property here is mixed, and affordable despite the status of the village, its astonishing amounts of green and woodland, and its classy, relaxed gentility. Much of the area's houses are from the 1930s and 40s, large and comfortable properties to the east and west of the village. These are uniformly great in terms of fitment and space, and many have excellent gardens. There are however, for the very choosy looking to make the most of living in such a salubrious area, some older properties near the centre and along the Green. All the properties in this area however are substantial, and the families who claim them are to a man, happy that they did so.

Fitzrovia: Variety aplenty
In central London, few places feel more foreign than Fitzrovia. The district, as well as its close neighbour Bloomsbury, is the closest a London resident can get to living in a European city. Of course, you'll have to excuse the chronic lack of sunshine, but the combination of close cobbled streets and extravagant squares gives Fitzrovia a definite Barcelona-esque feel. Its location in central London - lodged between Bloomsbury and Marylebone - makes it ideal for those who prefer their conveniences … well, convenient. You can work, shop and eat within just a few streets of where you live. Perfect.
