Residents occupying flats to rent in Epsom & Ewell can now visit Shadbolt Park Pond
Shadbolt Park Pond can now be visited by people living in flats to rent in the London borough of Epsom & Ewell, following the completion of a restoration project.
The nature reserve was officially re-opened last Sunday, with an exhibition after the ceremony showcasing photographs of the renovation process.
Councillor Clive Woodbridge, chairman of the Leisure Committee, said the area had been transformed thanks to the hard work of the Shadbolt Park Pond Group and the Council's Rangers Service.
"This project is the result of a lot of hard work and fundraising over the past year … and the pond should have a big impact in encouraging wildlife to this area," he added.
Over four days in September, the joint community effort re-profiled the earth around the pond and cleared surrounding vegetation and trees.
Recently, Epsom & Ewell Council asked residents of the borough if they would like to take up the opportunity to benefit their local community by becoming a trained walk leader.
The programme enables individuals to help their community as a volunteer by leading others on trails throughout the area.
