Better options on horizon for tenants?
Advice being issued to landlords this week suggests that those looking for property to rent in Shoreditch, flats to rent in Fulham and residences elsewhere in the UK may soon benefit from a better choice of private rented sector homes.
ServiceMaster, a cleaning and services firm, has advised landlords to make changes to their properties in order to please a discerning renter market.
Property professionals were told to get carpets, specialist flooring and tiles thoroughly cleaned, and curtains and upholstery washed or vacuumed.
"This will brighten rooms and make them appear bigger as well as giving the impression that the house has been cared for and can be well-maintained," the company said in a statement.
It added that caring for homes in this way will also be good for landlords because their investments will last longer.
Last month, Ian Potter, operations manager at the Association of Residential Letting Agents, said attitudes to renting in the UK are changing and noted that an increasing number of people are opting for the private rented sector over buying a home.
