Bethnal Green and Victoria Park host skating events
Young people occupying flats to rent in Bethnal Green and Victoria Park have seen events taking place in their areas to highlight the range of skating facilities available to them.
During the half-term break, Tower Hamlets Council's parks and sports development teams organised an event called Get Your Skates On at Bethnal Green Gardens, featuring a synthetic ice skating rink and a range of free activities.
Meanwhile, over in Victoria Park, more than 200 skateboarders and BMX bikers attended the Urban Skate Jam, an event designed to mark the launch of the new Wheel Park.
Offering skateboarding lessons, an urban climbing wall, music and a live graffiti wall, the event showed off the amenities present at the new park and will hopefully encourage kids to get active.
Rania Khan, lead member for culture, said: "We had some really talented bikers and skaters performing some incredible stunts on the day. I am sure it will be a very well-used facility."
Other events organised by Tower Hamlets Council during the school break included a bake-off and a special Valentine's Day celebration at Victoria Park.
