Young professionals are 'ideal tenants'
Young professionals with reliable above average incomes are the 'ideal tenants' for many landlords, according to real estate specialists.
Landlords advisory website Property Hawk said that professionals who choose not to buy become the cream of the rental crop – with landlords willing to cater to their needs in order to secure what they see as reliable tenants
Recent research from the Mortgage Trust, reported by IFAonline.co.uk, discovered that 27 per cent of landlords are now targeting corporate tenants – a big rise from the 14.4 per cent registered at the beginning of 2007.
Chris Horne, editor of Property Hawk, said: "With professional tenants, they tend to be able to pay a little bit more rent, and they're often looking for slightly better accommodation.
"Effectively they're the cream of the crop in terms of what a landlord's looking for.
"They demand extra – things like broadband connections et cetera – but in return for that a landlord can often charge a premium rent."
He added, however, that even demanding professional tenants did not usually demand fully furnished accommodation, preferring a mostly empty space that they could work to fill themselves.
