Scheme may help people looking at flats to rent in London find jobs
People looking at flats to rent in the London borough of Hammersmith & Fulham may have plenty of support if they are also looking for a job in the area.
So far this year, an employment bureau based in the new Shepherd's Bush Library has found positions for more than 100 people.
Working with Westfield shopping centre, the Work Zone set 17 people up with jobs in Topshop, while 22 are now working are the Cinema and 11 at Thoughts Cards.
The organisation also offers training and advice on matters such as health and safety, food hygiene and selling and merchandising.
Councillor Greg Smith, cabinet member for resident?s services, said the Shepherds Bush programme is the only one of its kind located in a library in the UK.
He added that "modern libraries should be much more than just places to borrow books from".
Shepherds Bush Library cost £2 million to build and houses more than 10,000 books, as well as 25 computers for public use.
