Saving money in the new year
Britons who have made a new year's resolution to save this year have been offered some advice which could take them one step closer towards their goal.
Moneysupermarket.com claims securing the best financial deals could see consumers saving some £4,000 in terms of savings.
Advice from the group includes choosing zero per cent credit cards and the best value insurance options available for their needs.
Furthermore, ensuring they are on the correct energy tariff for their home and region could also see Britons boosting their savings, the price comparison site adds.
Clare Francis, site editor at price comparison site moneysupermarket.com, said: "We're all feeling the pinch at the moment and for those suffering an extra financial hangover from the festive period, recovery will be all the quicker in 2010 if significant savings are made."
Britons could find they are able to save money by choosing flats to rent in Hammersmith or another part of the capital, as taking on a mortgage in London - where house prices are typically higher than in other parts of the UK - can see them forking out.
