People renting flats in London clearing their arrears?
Those looking for flats to rent in London may be interested to learn that tenants across the UK are beginning to improve their financial positions, new figures have suggested.
The National Landlords Association (NLA) released statistics showing the average amount of arrears owed by occupants of rental properties dropped from £978 to £799 between the first and second quarters of 2010.
According to the organisation, this may signify a return to stability for many individuals who do not own the place in which they live.
David Salusbury, chairman of the NLA, said rent arrears can be a "serious problem".
However, he added: "It is good to see the latest data, which represents a small improvement in that more tenants are keeping up with their rent payments and not putting pressure on their landlords."
Earlier this year, the NLA advised property owners to always perform checks on people who are going to be renting a residence from them in order to ensure they are able to keep up with payments.
