Outreach centre in St Paul's Cray given award
People in flats to rent in St Paul's Cray have benefitted from an award-winning outreach centre which helps local people look for employment and learn new skills such as painting and food safety.
The community centres in St Paul's Cray and Mottingham have both been awarded for services to the community by receiving their Matrix accreditation, the industry standard for information, advice and guidance providers.
Councillor Peter Morgan, executive councillor for renewal and recreation, said he is grateful to the staff and volunteers of the council for their hard work and pleased at the recognition the schemes have received.
"Helping to provide people in the borough with the real and lasting skills needed for new opportunities is a valuable service to the local community," Mr Morgan added.
The centres allow free access to ICT facilities as well as advice and guidance with job-seeking and other issues.
Awards were recently handed out to a number of local do-gooders for their services to improving safety in the community.
