Londoners told to brace for second storm
Property owners across the south-east are being advised to take suitable steps to ensure they do what they can to minimise damage from the second round of the storms that have lashed much of London this week.
The Met Office is expecting torrid conditions, with winds of up to 80mph in some parts of the country, as well as heavy rain likely to buffet buildings.
After the weekend's destructive weather caused misery for many homeowners in London, the Met Office is saying more bad news is on the way today and tomorrow.
Nick Grahame, chief forecaster at the Met Office said: "We are forecasting another swathe of severe gales to affect parts of the UK."
"With this spell of strong winds the Met Office is predicting further disruption to transport and power supplies, as well as the potential of damage to buildings and trees."
The focus of the next wave is expected to be further north, but both landlords and those with their own home in the capital should take heed of some of the advice being issued by the Met Office.
Among the precautions to take are securing loose objects, as well as doors and windows and to move beds away from areas directly below chimney stacks if they are particularly tall.
