Londoners show contentment with where they live
Some 61 per cent of Londoners have said they are proud of the region they live in.
Halifax Home Insurance's latest research, which did not separate those who live in property to rent in London and people who own their houses, indicated that residents from the capital city showed more pride in their homes than people from a number of other regions.
For instance, only 55 per cent of people who live in the West Midlands were proud of their region - the same figure that expressed a similar sentiment about the south-east.
Residents of property in the east midlands were the least satisfied with their home area, as less than half (45 per cent) expressed regional pride.
Factors that made people happy - and many people from flats to rent in London may feel the same - were close proximity to loved ones, feeling safe in a region and having easy access to amenities.
Martyn Foulds, senior claims manager at Halifax Home Insurance, said: "Not only is safety in an area a top reason for feeling regional pride, it is also [a high] priority for most people when deciding where to live."
Financial search engine Tescocompare.com said this week that people can feel more secure by taking out the right insurance to cover their belongings.
