Lewisham celebrates Ofsted success
Lewisham has received positive news following a recent Ofsted inspection. Lee Manor Primary school received an 'Outstanding' grade after September's round of inspection, showing that the education on offer at the institution is top notch. This is the highest possible grade a school is able to achieve during an inspection by Ofsted.
A total of five areas received this title, highlighting the fact that the school is performing well all round. Categories included: quality of teaching, overall effectiveness, pupils' behaviour and safety, leadership and management, and pupils' achievement.
Inspectors observed 31 lessons and also talked to pupils about the school and evaluated their work. The thorough investigation also took into account the comments of parents and carers, and a broad range of documented evidence, including all monitoring of teachers and pupils' progress. Following the review, a number of achievements were highlighted as being particularly note-worthy.
The school was commended on the way it builds positive relationships with pupils, which leads to good behaviour and manners. It was also noted that, when compared with national figures, pupils were exceeding the levels of progress expected of them by the time they reached the end of Year Six. This enhanced progress means they are better prepared for heading into secondary school.
Alex Bell, associate headteacher at the school, said: "We’re so pleased to see the outstanding judgment especially now the new inspection regime is even tougher and more demanding. We have a great team here at Lee Manor and the children are a delight. We are all very proud of them and very pleased for our local community."
It wasn't just the pupils and their progress that met with a positive response from Ofsted inspectors - governors and senior leadership were also highlighted as being particularly strong. The inspectors noted that standards are constantly being improved throughout the school and that those in leadership positions work hard in a professional manner to ensure good levels of achievement.
