Landlords 'more often friend than foe'
Renting out property could soon become an even more popular choice for young people, as a report revealed that the relationship between tenants and landlords was often very amicable.
While some may previously have been put up by tales of mutual distrust, the Alliance & Leicester report revealed that only three per cent of 25-34 year olds do not get along with landlords, while many others were on very good terms.
Insisting that landlords often turned out to be "more friend than foe", with as many as one in ten renters aged between 25 and 34 on good enough terms to consider their landlord as a friend.
Stephen Leonard, Director of Mortgages at Alliance & Leicester, says: "It's encouraging that so many landlords and tenants enjoy a good relationship, as this can help ensure any issues of dispute relating to the rented property are settled amicably and on good terms.
"With so many young tenants living long distances away from their family and friends, it's clearly very useful to have somebody they trust to turn to for support."
One in ten landlords was only found to check up on the wellbeing of their tenants on a fortnightly basis, providing good grounds for a positive relationship and a good renting experience.
