Individuals in flats to rent in Havering may benefit from money saving initiative
An initiative introduced by Havering Council may be of interest to people occupying flats to rent in the borough.
The administration is encouraging firms to sign up to the Haveringcard project, which has been re-issued in the run-up to Christmas.
"We launched this scheme to help residents and businesses through the recession with discounts on all sorts of goods and services, hairdressers through to plumbers," said council leader Michael White.
People occupying flats to rent in the London borough of Havering can pick one of the cards up from selected participating enterprises, the Public Advice and Service Centre and libraries.
To receiver the discount, people must have their card on them and can spot which of their local businesses have entered the scheme by looking out for the sticker or poster displayed on their premises.
In addition to the initiative to help the borough's firms and residents over Christmas, Havering Council is also putting on an event featuring music and late-night shopping in Hornchurch town centre on December 10th.
