Docklands regeneration underway
A major regeneration project is taking place in the Docklands, it has been announced.
Those who are involved in organising the works will be speaking at an event at Trinity Buoy Wharf this month.
Furthermore, a new campaign has been launched called Tide of Change, which is part of The Campaign for Drawing's Recording Britain Now exhibition.
This new initiative will hold a series of discussions on how developers and landowners are responding to the challenges of developing the Docklands.
Tide of Change is a month-long programme inspired by artist, writer, critic and scholar John Ruskin.
Ruskin believed that drawing makes it much easier for people to see how proposed changes will look and impact a community.
As part of the discussions and events planned for the Docklands, a debate about how large-scale redevelopment plans are set to change the face of the east will be taking place.
This discussion will be hosted by Paul Finch, director of the World Architecture Festival programme.
In an interview published by Wharf.co.uk, he said: "The aim of this event is to consider how major schemes led by the commercial and public sectors can achieve the best outcomes for East London."
The project would include the building of homes, commercial offices, and other amenities in and around the Docklands area.
The Docklands has a long history of regeneration and underwent significant change in the 1960s and 80s.
It has always been a busy and prominent part of London, and is one of the main centres of trade within the city.
These new changes will not only help to raise its profile even further, but will also benefit residents and local businesses in the area.
More jobs are set to be brought into the city as a result, while it will also help to boost the local GDP.
