Crossrail station to be available for those who rent flats in Docklands
Those choosing flats to rent in Docklands are set to benefit from plans to improve transport across London, it has been revealed.
Transport for London's (TFL) budget for the 2009-10 financial year was announced yesterday, including a timeline to commence work on the Isle of Dogs Crossrail station.
Upgrades to the Tube network and the extension of the East London Line is also to take place, as funding of £9.2 billion has been set - up from last year's £8.1 billion.
Mayor Boris Johnson remarked: "We are committed to transforming our transport infrastructure and are investing billions to create a network that Londoners will recognise as vastly improved from the one we have now."
Initiatives designed to improve traffic flow have also been planned, while the mayor's cycle hire scheme is to be implemented.
TFL announced that the Isle of Dogs Crosstail station had been approved at the end of last year, with 100,000 sq ft of retail space to be included.
