Buy-to-let 'retains appeal'
Landlords are reportedly standing by the buy-to-let market, undeterred by recent jitters about the UK house price values.
More than half of landlords are expected to remain in the property market for ten years or more according to the Money Centre, with one in four saying they will stay in the market indefinitely.
The findings reflect unfaltering optimism in the booming buy-to-let market, which now accounts for one in every 13 mortgages compared to one in every 27 loans just five years ago.
Analysts widely credit spiralling house price inflation with the continued demand for rented properties. The average value of a UK home has risen an incredible 227 per cent since 1996, bolstered by the country's ongoing housing stock shortage.
"buy-to-let has become more and more accessible over recent years and we expect to continue to see landlords build on their existing property portfolios as well as see people join the buy-to-let market for the first time," said Lynsey Sweales, marketing and PR director of the Money Centre.
According to Capital Economics, the private rented sector now provides homes for some three million households.
