Brentford 'to benefit' from waterfront housing project
Plans have been submitted for a mixed-use development in Brentford.
The project, which is known as Brentford Lock West, is located off Commerce Road and is 11 acres in size. Permission has already been granted for 520 residential units and now ISIS Waterside Regeneration has put forward a detailed planning application.
Should it be successful, anyone seeking property to rent in Brentford can expect to see an increase in the number of houses available. The initial plan has already received an Urban Design Award and recognition from the Sustainable Development Committee at Hounslow Borough Council.
Some 150 one, two, three and four-bedroom apartments and townhouses will be crafted under phase one of the development and the scheme is seeking to maximise the water frontage.
Katie Sully, development director at ISIS Waterside Regeneration - which has been involved in the construction of Islington Wharf in Manchester and Granary Wharf in Leeds - said: "Brentford is a fantastic location and with all of the regeneration that's taking place we're excited to be playing a key part in breathing life back into the area.
"ISIS knows how to harness the unique natural qualities of our waterways to create genuinely sustainable places for people to live, work and enjoy and Brentford Lock West will allow residents to make the most of waterside living."
Ms Sully continued by saying the development has been put together in such a way that "stylish and unique homes" will take advantage of the waterfront view. She added the first phase of properties will be brought to the market next year.
Of the 520 houses planned, 20 per cent will be affordable, which is great news for lower income families in the area. As well as this, 300 jobs will be created by the 7,000 sq m of commercial space. Designers Duggan Morris, Karakusevic Carson and Riches Hawley Mikhail have all been involved in drawing up the plans for the phase one development.
