Westminster's Old Marylebone Town Hall set for revamp
People occupying flats to rent in Westminster could be set to see improvements to the historic Old Marylebone Town Hall under new council plans.
Westminster City Council and London Business School have entered exclusive negotiations over proposals to restore the site's exterior to a full state of repair, while creating a modern learning environment within.
The hall was originally opened in 1920 and has hosted weddings involving celebrities such as Sir Paul McCartney, Liam Gallagher and Antonio Banderas, with couples to be allowed to once again book their nuptials there once the work is complete.
As part of the same plans, the council is also hoping to create a purpose-built site for Marylebone Library, with residents invited to share their feedback on how these plans should proceed.
"Marylebone Library is well used and a great asset to the City of Westminster. I encourage everyone interested in taking part in the debate to have their say," said Westminster Council's cabinet member for housing and corporate property Jonathan Glanz.
This comes after the council earlier this month commenced a project to make improvements to Maida Vale library, costing £150,000 in total.
