Waltham Forest 'best place to rent' in London
The property to rent in Waltham Forest is the best in London.
Research by Spareroom.co.uk found the area has a mixture of low prices and short commuting times that means it is ideal for professionals searching for somewhere to live, the East London and West Essex Guardian Series reports.
Typical rent is £481 a month, which compares favourably with the £533 expected in many other boroughs in Zone 3 on the Tube network. As well as this, it will take a person 22 minutes to get to Oxford Circus on the Victoria Line and so the E17 postcode is perfect for anyone who works in Central London.
Matt Hutchinson, director at the group, said: "East London has often been considered inferior to other parts of London, which has been reflected in the low rents. But with its proximity to the City and Canary Wharf, that view has slowly changed in recent years.
"Now, thanks to the regeneration programme taking place at Stratford City, East London could be about to see a massive surge in interest." He added provided people are willing to put a bit of time and effort into their research, it is possible to find a good deal in a brilliant location.
Neil Ewen, manager of Central Estate Agents in Hoe Street, told the news provider in the last 12 months there has been an increase in both renting and buying in the area. The expert went on to note the regeneration work being carried out in Walthamstow Central is attracting a lot of people.
Waltham Forest Council recently announced it is going to invest £30 million in the local school system. The move will see significant improvements made to two learning centres in the borough - Willowfield School and Leytonstone School.
It means children will have facilities to match the quality of teaching they receive. An additional £50 million is also being spent on increasing the number of teaching places.
