Tower Hamlets council urges residents to register Olympic events
People living in property to rent in the London borough of Tower Hamlets are being urged to inform their local council about any cultural events they have planned for next year.
Events will be added to the Mayor of London's Culture Diary, which will be used in a year-long campaign to promote London as the world's capital for culture and creativity.
Residents have until the end of March to add their event to the calendar.
For any non-cultural events, with more than 450 attendees, which are designed to celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic Games, organisers need to obtain a temporary event notice from Tower Hamlets Council.
"Non-cultural events could include a shopping sale, product launch, community fete, sports tournament or international conference," the council's website explains.
Last week, the six boroughs included on the route for the Olympic cycling road races were confirmed as Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, Wandsworth, Richmond-upon-Thames and Kingston-upon-Thames.
