Those seeking flats to rent in Croydon set for cycling boost
Cyclists looking for flats to rent in Croydon are set for a boost after Transport for London announced new funding to help those on two wheels in the borough.
London mayor Boris Johnson unveiled £4 million of funding for the local authority, which means the local council can carry out most of its improvement plans for 2011-12, despite reductions caused by cuts in central government grants.
This will include a £300,000 to Connect 2, a body whose job is to make walking and cycling routes more attractive, while £120,000 will go towards high-quality cycle training for people of all ages.
And the Redevelopment of Welleseley Road - while maintaining bus services there - will receive £267,000, with more crossings and "less clutter" being part of the blueprint.
While Croydon's public transport links do not include the Tube, it is served by London Overground, the Croydon Tramlink and Thameslink, with the latter providing access to Central London.
